The main contract for polysilicon on the Guangzhou Futures Exchange fell below RMB40,000 per ton yesterday (19th) and eventually ended down 5.77% at RMB38,550 per ton, according to the Securities Daily.

A securities investment advisor told the Securities Daily that RMB40,000 per ton is widely regarded as the cash cost line for some leaders in the polysilicon industry, and the futures price dropping below this threshold indicates that the market is heaping extreme pressure on high-cost production capacity.
