Senior economic officials from the US and China concluded the first day of their two-day talks in Paris, France, yesterday (15th), Reuters reported. The discussions aim to resolve disputes over the trade truce agreement and pave the way for US President Donald Trump's visit to Beijing at the end of this month for a meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping. The talks were co-chaired by US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng, with a focus expected on US tariff adjustments, China's supply of rare earth minerals and magnets to the US, US high-tech export controls, and China's procurement of US agricultural products. A US Treasury spokesperson revealed that the talks at the OECD headquarters in Paris lasted over six hours and will continue this morning (16th). The spokesperson did not disclose the tone or specific content of the talks, and Chinese officials did not respond to questions when leaving the OECD headquarters. AASTOCKS Financial News |
