<Research>Citi: iPhone 17e Reflects Apple (AAPL.US)'s Efforts to Strengthen Position in More Price-Competitive Segment

Apple (AAPL.US) recently kicked off its week-long product announcements with a new iPhone 17e, marking the annual update cycle for the budget smartphone, Citi Research issued a research report saying.

Notably, Apple increased the base storage capacity from 128GB to 256GB for the iPhone 16e, while memory specifications are likely unchanged, setting the starting price at US$599.

The broker believed that this move reflects Apple's commitment to strengthening its position in the more price-competitive smartphone segment, particularly amid ongoing memory pricing pressures.

Therefore, Citi Research maintained its iPhone shipment forecasts unchanged at 246 million units/ 262 million units for calendar year 2026/ 2027, up 1.3%/ 5.9% YoY each, and kept rating at Buy on Apple, with a target price of US$315.
