The US Court of International Trade ruled that the reciprocal tariffs announced by US President Donald Trump exceeded presidential authority, ordering the revocation and permanent prohibition of these tariffs. The US government is appealing the decision, which may ultimately be brought before the US Supreme Court.

A White House spokesperson stated that unelected judges do not have the authority to decide how to properly handle national emergencies, arguing that foreign non-reciprocal treatment towards the US exacerbates the historic and ongoing trade deficit, which has caused a national emergency, destroyed American communities and workers, and undermined the US defense industrial base.
