WeChat's 2025 May Day statistics disclosed a 10% YoY upswing in mainland residents' payment transactions via the App, with the catering sector jumping up 12.3%. Scenic spots, accommodations, and travel posted robust growth during the holiday. "Two-way tourism" emerged as a new highlight this May Day. Mainland outbound tourism remained robust, with a 37% YoY surge in WeChat Pay transactions abroad. Inbound tourism by foreigners and Hong Kong residents also soared. WeChat Pay's foreign card data indicated that foreign users' transaction volume and value in mainland China shot up 2x YoY in the first three days of the holiday.
