The HSI ticked up 40 points or 0.2% to 21,457. The HSCEI added 8 points or 0.1% to 7,974. The HSTECH dropped 45 points or 0.9% to 4,969. The total half-day turnover of the market shrank to $108.796 billion.

CHINA RUYI (00136.HK) raised a net of about $2.304 billion from the issue of convertible bonds, but its share price tumbled 8.7% at midday. A Counterpoint report highlighted strong demand for the iPhone 16e, with Apple (AAPL.US) leading 1Q smartphone sales. BYD ELECTRONIC (00285.HK) sagged 2.2%, while AAC TECH (02018.HK) cascaded 4.1%.

Moreover, NEW ORIENTAL-S (09901.HK) and GDS-SW (09698.HK) climbed 2.9% and 2.7%, while EAST BUY (01797.HK) and KINGSOFT CLOUD (03896.HK) faded 2.7% and 3.6%. Chip stock SMIC (00981.HK) receded 3.2%.

Automaker BYD COMPANY (01211.HK) slid 0.6% to $373.8 at midday, while LI AUTO-W (02015.HK) and XPENG-W (09868.HK) shed 2.6% and 3.5%. For consumers, CR BEVERAGE (02460.HK) leaped 4.8%, while CHINA FEIHE (06186.HK) mounted 3.3% as Goldman Sachs upgraded it to Buy. ANTA SPORTS (02020.HK), POP MART (09992.HK), MNSO (09896.HK) and TINGYI (00322.HK) ballooned 2.8-3%, while TONGCHENGTRAVEL (00780.HK) and CTG DUTY-FREE (01880.HK) eroded 2.7% and 3.4%. Casinos SANDS CHINA LTD (01928.HK) and GALAXY ENT (00027.HK) lost 2.1% and 3.6%.
