The current international situation is intertwined with chaos, increasing instability and uncertainty in the Asia-Pacific region, Chinese President Xi Jinping delivered a speech at the 32nd APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting saying.

He emphasized the need to adhere to APEC's original intention of promoting economic growth and enhancing people's well-being, to persist in sharing opportunities and achieving win-win outcomes through open development, to advance inclusive and universally beneficial economic globalization, and to build an Asia-Pacific community.

Xi proposed five suggestions, with one being to jointly uphold the multilateral trading system, enhance the authority and effectiveness of the multilateral trading system with the World Trade Organisation (WTO) at its core, safeguard fundamental principles such as most-favoured-nation treatment and non-discrimination, advance international economic and trade rules to keep pace with the times, and better protect the legitimate rights of developing countries.
