The Civil Aviation Department of Hong Kong(CAD) updated the requirements and regulation for local airlines regarding passengers carrying and using power banks. Starting from April 7, local airlines should not allow their passengers to use power banks to charge other portable electronic devices and/or recharge power banks during flight. Stowage of power banks in the overhead compartments is also prohibited with the same effective date. CATHAY PAC AIR (00293.HK) recognized the CAD's latest guidance on passengers carrying lithium battery power banks on flights and was well aware of the importance of further enhancing aviation safety, and supported measures to reduce the risks associated with the use of lithium battery power banks, according to CATHAY PAC AIR. CATHAY PAC AIR will fully comply with the requirements, and will work closely with the CAD and the wide range of industry to ensure the smooth implementation of the new requirements, with the updated requirements being clearly conveyed to customers.
