Iran launched a missile attack on Israel overnight (1 Oct) in response to Israel's strike on the senior leadership of Lebanese Hezbollah and the launch of a ground offensive.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that Israel would retaliate, and that Iran had made a big mistake, according to the Associated Press (AP). He said that Iran would pay for the attack, and reiterated that Israel would attack whoever attacked them.

Netanyahu added that the attack was a failure, noting that Iran would face the same fate as Gaza and Lebanon. The Israeli military said that Iran fired 180 missiles at Israel.

Brent oil futures hiked 1.3% to US$74.54 per barrel during the Asian electronic trading session.
